A novel by C.R. Hall, published by Angus Robertson in 1971. The book has 892 pages of a saga of a family of manufacturers in Australia, from the late 19th century to the mid 20th century. The book follows the lives and fortunes of the Macdonalds, who own and run a textile factory in Sydney, and their rivals, the Winstons, who own and run a steel mill in Melbourne. The book is a sweeping and realistic portrayal of the industrial and social history of Australia. Additional remarks: large piece missing from the dust jacket and some small tears.
